Dinner in the sky

I honestly wish I had put in more effort into these photos of what an amazing dining experience is made up of. To tell the truth, I was way too hungry and being with a table full of hungry (and angsty) ladies do not help when you have a huge-ass 5D pointing at their food. Everything was gobbled up within seconds so I was literally pointing and shooting everything. I've been looking forward to Duck & Waffle for a long time and to be able to finally be there was worth putting on a new dress for. Book in advance when you're in town (open 24/7 but make your reservations), I was lucky I had conversed with head chef, Dan, before coming so my experience was made even more special with a warm welcome from the chef himself. With *FOOD* in his hands. I tried some of the restaurant's favourites, including THE duck and waffle- waffles, perfectly crisp duck confit, sunny side up and maple syrup. But the star of the night for me was the foie gras 'All Day Breakfast and Nutella' - brioche  with Nutella and a couple of indecent slabs of foie gras, topped with crisp bacon and topped with quail's egg, sunny side up. We also had little morsels of happiness in the form of raw scallops with apple, truffle and a squeeze of lime that was served on a rose quartz and some pretty amazing grilled octopus and chorizo. For the spectacular view of the city and the thrilling ride back to ground zero from level 40, everything was like how it needed to be- it was the perfect night out. Definitely applauding Dan for his creativity with the menu, he recommends 4am having breakfast while watching the sun rise over London. Don't think anything can ever beat that so I'm making sure that happens when I'm back. Honestly, the whole time I was up there was as surreal as it could get, I shed a tear or two. Not trying to be a drama queen but that's how seriously I take my food so believe me when I say you have got to come here…these photos do no justice at all but thank God it's all in my heart.

Duck & Waffle is located at the 40th floor of the Heron Tower, 110 Bishopsgate, EC2N 4AY.
